These companies work kind of like an exclusive travel club where owners of affiliated properties can trade their "home resort" weeks for a week anywhere within the network.

Or Go Anywhere With a Vacation Club
The less traditional but increasingly popular method of using a timeshare to travel is to buy a vacation club. These clubs work much like traditional timeshares in that they'll allot owners a week at the resort of their choice, but differ in that owners won't be assigned to a specific resort. Rather, they'll have a choice of a broad array of resorts that the club affiliates itself with.
